Measuring Guide

  • Record measurements in inches or centimeters, and use the same unit for the whole set.
  • Have the dancer stand naturally in fitted dancewear.
  • Keep the tape close to the body without digging in.
  • Record the actual numbers.
  • Do not add extra inches for growth.

Chest

  • Measure around the fullest part of the chest with arms relaxed.
  • Keep the tape level across the back.
  • Vendor charts may call this Bust or Bust/Chest.

Waist

  • Measure around the natural waist, where the body creases when bending sideways.
  • Keep the tape level.

Hips

  • With feet together, measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat.
  • Keep the tape level.

Girth

  • Start at the top of one shoulder.
  • Follow the tape down the front of the body, through the legs, and back up to the same shoulder.
  • Record the full loop.
  • Girth is especially important for one-piece costumes.

Shoe Size

  • Enter the dancer’s shoe size and its sizing system, such as US Child or US Adult.
  • Shoe size is not a body measurement.
  • Leave it blank when it is unknown.

Common Questions

A dancer is in several classes. Do I create more than one record?

No. Keep one dancer record and select that dancer on each routine.

A dancer quits. What do I do?

Click Edit / Remove, then Archive. Archiving takes the dancer off the active roster and keeps the existing record.

How is profit calculated?

Profit is fees charged minus studio cost.
